Croswaite Counseling, PLLC offers free and low-cost trainings to mental health professionals/agencies, community partners, and wellness providers in the greater Metro Area. The trainings offered are formatted to create a safe place for curiosity, discussion, and hands-on learning of new clinical tools and skills. It is the hope that each participant will engage in a meaningful learning environment to catalyze professional growth and awareness. Innovative and Interactive Approaches to Suicide Assessment and Safety Planning

This program is available for NBCC credit.

  • Identify and discuss known risk factors in suicide assessment and prevention as well as safety planning strategies to address symptom management and treatment planning with a person at risk.

  • Explore the latest research on suicide assessment, including innovation and demonstration of the Community Assessment and Coordination of Safety (CACS), an interactive web application where clinicians and helping professionals can conduct an electronic suicide risk assessment, safety plan, and connect to appropriate resources to support a person at risk.

  • Discuss the implications of technology on the assessment and coordination of safety and suicide, to be explored by helping professionals in measuring engagement, authenticity, and accuracy of risk and response in our diverse communities.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will recognize and explore the interaction between risk and protective factors when engaging a person at risk in a formal suicide assessment.

  2. Participants will practice engagement of a person at risk in suicide assessment and treatment planning to support symptom management.

  3. Participants will identify documentation and resource needs to support a person at risk.

  4. Participants will explore the latest technology supporting suicide assessment and safety planning in order to evaluate the appropriateness and efficacy of utilizing technology to engage a person at risk.

Medicaid Mastery Class: Coding Confidence including Documentation and Treatment Planning

This program is available for NBCC credit.

Provide overview of coding, billing, and documentation as an independent Medicaid Provider to support competence and confidence.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will identify Medicaid documentation requirements to remain in compliance as an independent Provider.

  2. Participants will develop professional clinical writing skills to support measurable treatment goals and ethical documentation as a Medicaid Provider.

  3. Participants will develop Medicaid compliant templates to support clinical writing, time management, and audit compliance as a Medicaid Provider.

I cannot tell you how much I feel our community of therapists needs trainings like these. The only reason I have been hesitant to take on Medicaid is fear of the paperwork requirements, hearing varying stressful stories, and being unsure of what is all expected of me when it comes to being a Medicaid Provider. It’s trainings like this that encourage me to do so, and I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for organizing and presenting your skills and knowledge on this topic!

self-harm, suicide assessment and safety planning

The likelihood of professionals encountering self-harm and suicidal ideation in their practice is high for populations suffering from mental illness. Assessment tools, clinical steps taken, and documentation of efforts as a helping professional are vital to the well-being of both client and clinician during times of high stress. This presentation will identify and discuss differences in self-harm and suicidal ideation as well as safety planning templates and community resources that could increase safety in response to emotional escalation, suicidal ideation, increased aggression, substance abuse, and conflict in the home. This presentation will allow participants to explore the Community Assessment and Coordination of Safety (CACS) web application including risk assessment, resources, and safety plan template.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to recognize the difference between self-harming behaviors and suicidal ideation in order to identify and implement appropriate interventions.

  2. Participants will be able to recognize the clinical language and documentation required in response to client crisis.

  3. Participants will examine State-wide resources to support clients in crisis and provide these resources to clients in crisis as appropriate.

  4. Participants will be given an introduction to a mobile and online risk assessment platform and resource directory to support clients experiencing mental health challenges or crisis.

Professional Helper Healing: Supporting Boundaries to Prevent Burnout

Engage helping professionals such as CNAs, personal care aides, mentors, CASA workers, and caregivers in exploring needs and strengths to support a healthy work environment.


Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will identify personal strengths and values as they contribute to sense of fulfillment in professional roles and job duties.

  2. Participants will identify areas of growth in self-care and positive coping in response to stressors.

  3. Participants will identify areas for growth around healthy boundaries in personal and professional spheres.

  4. Participants will identify and practice communication and conflict resolution skills in safe and supportive ways.
